Synthepol's parent company Chemical Specialties has manufactured polyester gel-coats,resins and flow-coats for over 20 years. Set up- by Stuart Jordan in the very early 80’s,the manufacturing of these products was predominantly for Essar NZ Ltd; later to be re-named FGI when taken over by A C Hatrick Ltd. At this time, in the late 80’s the range expanded to incorporate more specialised resins for the growing specialty side of the NZ composites industry – resin infusion, vacuum moulding, lightweight componentry, foamed sandwich structures, etc.

The disappearance of A C Hatrick Ltd, some 4 years ago, left a group of experienced people who saw the need ( as well as the opportunity) to fill this void with an alternative supplier. One to specialise in the needs of the more adventurous and innovative of our fabricators who need more than just commodity resin lines at lowest prices. (And let's face up to it, who can guarantee “lowest prices” when there is no other competition anyway!).

Synthepol was thus set-up as a specialist in the manufacture and supply of polymers for the fibreglass industry. Our focus is on the development and manufacture of polyester resin based products, such as polyester resins, gelcoats, flowcoats, and marine & automotive putties. Our range of resins cover products that have been specifically designed for use in the general GRP laminating industry, others for the marine industry, bathroom-ware, transport, chemicals, floors etc. We also supply a large range of reinforcements, fillers, solvents and ancillary products.
