UNUSUAL FIRE
AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS.
(A) Styrene will polymerise at elevated temperatures. If
this occurs in a closed container there is risk of violent
rupture.
(B) Fire hazard increases if allowed to dry. Oxygen for
combustion partly supplied by the peroxide itself.

SECTION FIVE - HEALTH
HAZARD DATA |

| EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES.
|
(A)
Ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. Aspiration of material
into the lungs could cause pneumonitis which can be fatal.
Give milk or water. Seek medical attention.
(B) Ingestion : Seek medical attention. If
more than 15 minutes from a hospital induce vomiting preferably
using ipecac syrup APF. Otherwise do not induce vomiting,
give sips of water preferably with charcoal tablets. Take
affected person to hospital

| Inhalation of Vapour: Move victim to
fresh air. Apply artificial respiration or give oxygen if necessary. |
| Eye Contact: Flush
with copious amounts of water - lift eyelids repeatedly. Seek
medical attention. |
| Skin Contact: Wash thoroughly
with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder
before re-use. |
| Advice to Doctor:
Treat symptomatically. |

SECTION SEVEN
- SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES |
Steps to be taken if the material is released
or spilled.
Eliminate all sources of ignition (flames, hot surfaces, electrical,
static or frictional sparks). Ventilate area. Prevent contamination
of storm-water drains.
Use plastic or other non-sparking tools to scrape up spilled
material and place in a suitable container for use or disposal. |
| Waste disposal method.
Portions (A) & (B) may be mixed together and allowed
to gel before disposal as solid waste in accordance with appropriate
regulations. |

| Respiratory protection. Use with adequate
ventilation. If necessary use canister mask (organic vapour
filter ) or approved air-line mask. |
| Ventilation. General
dilution or local exhaust to maintain vapour concentration
below TLV. |

giving arm and leg cover. |

SECTION NINE - SPECIAL
PRECAUTIONS |
Precautions to be taken in
handling and storage.
When handling keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use only in well ventilated
areas.
Store in a dry well ventilated space in original containers
(ideally below 27°C to prevent spoilage ). Open containers
slowly in case of internal pressure. |
